Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. It was here that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat is a track that she sang alongside Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox performed on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video later released in September. Then, on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two more singles were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
